Kardinia International College is a K-12 educational, non-denominational, independent school located in Bell Post Hill, Geelong and provides a foundation for an all-pervasive ethos of respect and friendship.
Project Description
Situated on 52 acres, Kardinia International College (Kardinia) has over 33 buildings that provide a supportive learning environment to 1900 students each day. The school opened in 1996 with new buildings co-existing alongside other older buildings.
The continual upkeep of Kardinia’s purpose-built facilities and historic buildings is essential to ensure an engaging environment able to prepare students for the 21st century. To achieve this, the school, which offers the International Baccalaureate programme as part of its curriculum, has worked closely with Programmed for the past 20 years, on a long-term maintenance contract that has been renewed multiple times. As part of this, Programmed provides the school external and internal painting maintenance annually during the Christmas holidays.
Project Solution
Kardinia understands the importance of protecting its assets and maintaining the appearance of its facilities, emphasising this in line with its reputation as a premium provider of educational facilities and experiences.
A recent change in colour scheme was also carried out to keep Kardinia looking modern and fresh. Applying this new palette across the campus harmonised the presentation of both the old and new buildings.
Kardinia has retained Programmed for so many years for many reasons, but overall, for its attention to detail and a consistent high level of quality of work provided. This has ensured the school’s presentation continue to be free from the effects of environmental wear and tear or damage that occurs with age.
Due to the grand scale of the campus, the high volume of students and staff, it has been almost difficult for any works to be scheduled during the school term, without disrupting the learning environment. As a result, Programmed provides the flexibility of undertaking all works required after hours and during planned school holidays to minimise any disruption to the school programs.
It is this relationship forged that enables Kardinia to completely trust Programmed to ensure that the school is always taken care of and looking at its optimum best. The long-term reliability provided to Kardinia over the years ensures complete confidence to call upon the services of Programmed with minimal notice.
Project Outcome
As a result of Programmed’s commitment to maintaining a high level of standard, a true reflection of this is in the visual impact that each unique building offers Kardinia’s staff and students. Through this long-term relationship, one key aspect within the scope has been to inspire the well-being of all staff and students via a well-maintained environment heightening the learning and educational outcomes of all the students.
