The Issues Programmed first began working with Nelson Hospital in 1988, and a strong partnership has been built between the two organisations. In recent times, hospital facilities have expanded, and modernised, to meet the demands of a growing population and this has meant the hospital’s property department has more and more buildings to be maintained.
The Solution The hospital has found that Programmed’s ongoing maintenance painting programmes are the ideal way to maintain their buildings at a high standard, while effectively budgeting their maintenance expenditure. “The programmes have been very good for us,” says Durham Quigley, Nelson Hospital’s Property and Facilities Manager. “We can plan out our budget year by year, and even over several years. We also achieve significant savings - particularly when we roll over the programmes into a second term, because the buildings have been so well maintained during the initial term. The system is very flexible for us, as we can make use of the savings for extra services.” The Outcome Nelson Hospital has been very pleased with the level of service provided by Programmed, and now most of the hospital’s buildings are on long-term maintenance painting programmes, for both interiors and exteriors. NMDHB also uses Programmed to maintain a number of other hospital facilities throughout the region. “The service has been very good, from both a sales and a trades perspective,” says Durham Quigley. “We find the team from Programmed really listen to our needs, and will shape contracts specifically to suit our requirements.”
