 The Issues
Located in the South Island’s Marlborough region, Molesworth Station is New Zealand’s largest high country cattle station. The homestead was built in the mid-1800s, and the buildings are subject to harsh environmental factors that make regular maintenance essential.
The Solution
A 12 year maintenance painting programme was implemented at Molesworth Station by Programmed. The isolated location of the station and the fact that there are several 4WD river crossings throughout the property meant that safety was a vital consideration for Landcorp, and Programmed’s best practice safety and corporate assurance systems were important in this regard. Programmed was also able to offer Landcorp the option to amortise the costs of the programme into evenly spread annual payments, which makes budgeting simpler and also enhances the affordability of the programme. The results achieved by Programmed at Molesworth Station have been very positive. The maintenance painting programme is now it its 7th year, and all the buildings are well presented and in a very sound condition. The programme has improved the general aesthetic appeal of the station - which is important, as the property regularly receives visits from parliamentary officials. “Programmed always keep me informed of progress on site, and I’ve been very happy with the health and safety standards,” said Station Manager Jim Ward.
